DAY EIGHT

Alicia S. - Mother of 13
1 human
1 llama
8 goats
2 dogs
and one very naughty cat!

This young lady lives on a small holding in Fort Langley with a bunch of characters.  Yes, (apart from her son), they are mentioned above (AND of course - her hubby).

You know how some people go away on a camping weekend?  Well, my family and I went away on a “farming” weekend.  Whilst Alicia and her family went off to Sunshine Valley over Easter, our family went to baby sit their farm.  It was an immense amount of fun caring for chickens, goats, a llama, cat and dogs.  Today, I continued my wonderful “farming life”, when I visited her.

On arrival, I found that wicked, little, Trooper the cat, whom I originally doted on, had caught, de-feathered and killed a small bird.   Trooper is NOT worthy of having his picture on this blog, so his furry brother Toby is in his place.   (Actually, I do still love Trooper, but just ABSOLUTELY not today…).
I helped to clean up his mess, (yes, Trooper – the mess stretched far and wide!) then baked some gluten free – almost sugar free muffins for Alicia’s son, who has a few allergies.  I put in this picture to show how I used apple sauce in place of sugar -

– Alicia’s idea of course, being knowledgeable on cooking for kids with allergies.  It really makes the muffins taste yummy though – I am totally sold.  AND, yes, I did try one!  ;)

Thanks so much Alicia for teaching me such a neat trick to baking muffins.  I thoroughly enjoyed myself and felt like a total farmer’s wife, as I watched the chickens and goats playing outside whilst baking!
What fun.  Thank you too for such a lovely kind comment on the blog.  I feel the same way having you and your family in our lives!

OH YES,  P.S.    I forgive YOU TROOPER.
